Review of Mona Lisa (1986) by Vlad S — 30 Aug 2007
Neil Jordan, pre-"The Crying Game," wrote and directed this gem about an ex-con in London who takes a job from his old boss driving a high-priced escort around to her many tricks. Bob Hoskins delivers what may still be his finest performance, and received an Oscar nomination for it.
Michael Caine makes his job look easy as the menacing crime boss. There are a couple of low-key twists here, but it's the way Jordan is with characters that makes it worth watching.
