Review of Mon Oncle (1958) by Stephen M — 02 Sep 2007
So this is who Wes Anderson gets inspiration from! Jaques Tati's satire on the 'Modernized World' is not only very funny, but very true as well. The sight gags are subtle yet priceless, with some incredibly clever execution (case in point: two silhoutted heads making 'eyeballs' in a window).
The film has a charming feel around it, and shows that the simple minded and big hearted are the ones who will come out on top of all the chaos of the modern world.
