Review of Mon Oncle (1958) by Lyndon G — 14 Nov 2007
I think the person I watched this with described it as "very gentle humor, but charming." The pace is as gentle as the satire. This movie is so different from what you expect, you don't know how to react to it, and you feel a little disappointed at first, or I did.
But it's about a lifestyle that was disappearing at the time and I think now may be entirely gone, and if you've never seen a Jacques Tati film, you might not know what I mean. (This might be my favorite of the three Hulot movies--it's the second in the series.
