Review of Mon Oncle (1958) by Lyam W — 17 Feb 2008
This is actually my favorite Tati film, even if it isn't his most lauded masterpiece. Balancing nostalgia with sharp-eyed critique, all in the guise of what I can only call neorealist vaudeville (with dashes of surrealist nihilism), is the skill I most admire (and envy) in Jacque Tati's work.
