Review of Mon Oncle (1958) by Ben W — 22 Jun 2010
I have to say, much more entertaining than m hulots holiday. it seems to me that this kind of comedy works better (prepare yourself for something that is rare for me to say) in color rather than b&w. its a soft spoken movie like tati makes and its entertaining physical comedy.
its satirical about the modern style of living (his sisters stupid house and the ridiculous fish fountain) and much of the set design is echoed in terry gilliam movies that came later, most notably brazil.
