Review of Moms' Night Out (2014) by Ashley S — 12 Sep 2014
If you take this movie for exactly what it's meant to be. then it is really very good. If you are a ridiculously overpaid (and by overpaid, I mean paid at all) movie critic, it is FAR beyond what you can appreciate.
.. what without all the nudity, sex and cursing. The actual point is NOT that if a woman walks away for a moment from her family the whole world falls apart, it more about the neuroses that a mother goes through in each stay and moment of her day.
It is, in fact, NOT about some "archaic" idea of a woman's "place", but instead a comicly arranged anecdote of all of her worst fears and the realization that perfection comes from somewhere outside of her own self.
The understanding reaches across the characters as stay at home moms and into the life of this working mommy to make me realize and see that I am indeed not alone. It brings a, albeit slightly cheesy, laugh that a movie should.
was it the best movie I have seen this year? no. was it completely worth my 1hr45min? absolutely!
