Review of Mommy (2014) by Tim R — 01 Sep 2016
Mommy is hard to watch but is worth it. The characters are so well developed and acted even during the intense fights and struggle. The truths explored within the inner relationships of the three leads makes the pain more poignant, that much sadder.
It's a long film and while the 1:1 aspect ratio may feel unnecessary, you'll forgive it once it becomes clear why the director choose to do so. I enjoyed this film but is one that doesn't leave a positive impression.
This movie is one of the few I would consider "raw" and I would recommend this only to those ready for something atypical and unrelenting.
