Review of Mommie Dearest (1981) by Renée L — 24 Aug 2008
Can't believe it took me almost 30 years to see this movie.
At first, I thought Joan was a little rough around the edges and obviously obsessive, and that the little girl was just being overly sensitive, but of course as the movie goes on, you realize just how mean Joan was to her little girl. Since this movie was written after Joan's death, I'm not sure how much investigating went into uncovering the truth of the story.
Will say this though: the little girl who played Christina was an amazing actress. And they did a really good job of finding an older actress who looked almost exactly like her to play the adult Christina.
