Review of Moment by Moment (1978) by Matthew S — 27 May 2015
Due to Jane Wagner's highly insightful writing and her intimate relationship with Lily Tomlin, you would think this movie might be of value. It is devastatingly bad and incredibly awkward. This isn't the level of bad cinema that becomes campy and fun to watch.
It is just painfully bad. I must confess, I could not look away. For that reason alone I feel I am obliged to give this movie a full star. It is of interest for sheer oddity. Make no mistake, this is intended to be a realistic movie.
It takes itself very seriously. I have to write that the sex scene between Lily Tomlin and John "Strip" Travolta is the polar opposite of erotic. Once the tops are off, I found myself confused about who was doing what.
Travolta and Tomlin are both thin and have almost identical haircuts.
