Review of Mom and Dad (2018) by Kasey R — 26 Feb 2018
With a CRAZY performance from Nicholas Cage, Mom and Dad is worth checking out alone for that reason. That's really it though, as the movie lacks substance. Nothing in the movie is explained...it's just something the audience just kind of has to roll with to enjoy. For me, this didn't do it.
It doesn't help the fact that logically, this premise couldn't really work. If parents are attacking their kids, where are the parents' parents? Director Brian Taylor tries to address this in "Mom and Dad", but there's no real payoff to it. On top of that, I'm pretty sure that if a house is flooded with gas, regardless of circumstance, 'one room' wouldn't be the only one affected of a match is struck.
