Mom and Dad showcases a myriad of good ideas and fresh takes on suburbia hysteria, despite a somewhat unoriginal premise. Cage and Blair manage to chew the scenery at any turn and provide most of the fun, not to mention Lance Henriksen in a small but great role as a crazed grandpa.
It's a shame that Taylor's direction squanders plenty of comedic beats in favor of his crazed videoclip style and the sloppy editing certainly doesn't help, messing transactions and often breaking continuity with a general sense of pace that often falls flat in a few points, killing most of the climax potential laughs.
The ending takes an enormous risk but effectively leaves a lot to be desired, not really wrapping up or leaving an open ended conclusion and, like many of the gags and the jokes that followed, without providing a satisfying pay off.
