Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Brendon B — 14 Apr 2018
Chastain and Elba are great. I've never been a fan of Sorkin's dialogue style, he writes like he's trying to prove how smart he is and forgets to be conversational, but he's more subdued in this film as compared to The Newsroom and other projects he's written for.
The film has a nice pace to it; it's two hours and 20 minutes, but it never drags and progresses nicely. However, I struggle to award it more than three stars because I can't shake the feeling that it's missing something.
What, exactly, the film is missing I can't articulate, but it falls short in some way.
