Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Money G — 08 Jul 2018
This is one of the better movies of the year because the writing is proficiently intelligent and the viewing is intentionally fast. This is filmed in a manner that keeps the audience engaged until the story has run it's course.
Besides the panache, this is a usual "illegal" biopic except there's no real rock bottom which leaves the story slightly hollow. However, most viewers won't notice that this plot is all rise and little fall.
Yes, Miss Chastain does get beat up, but it's not Goodfellas type paranoia. Jessica Chastain is a very good actress, in this movie she is fast, in conversation and mannerisms. If you like American Made, you will like this.
However, I would argue that this movie is intended to clear her name, leaving the viewer to decipher the federal punishment of white collar crime and how innocent she was in reality.
