Review of Modern Times (1936) by Cara R — 16 Aug 2009
Chaplin proves, once again, his brilliant insight and genius regarding the caricature of modern culture. this movie, although less of a love story than City Lights (but still very much a comedy), also maintains the paradox chaplin had a knack for: progressive timelessness.
slapstick and traditional comedy gags, mixed with polished emotional vigor, and what the hell- a bit of personal heartache too. I adore this movie.
