Review of Modern Times (1936) by Steven R — 13 Nov 2009
I'm just a huge fan of Mr. Charlie Chaplin. I love his heart, I love his humor, I love his inevitable torment. Modern Times is an indictment of a society which functions to protect the interests of the affluent; leading the rest into an existece of desperation.
It is sincere messages like this that made Chaplin a target of Conservative persecution in the 1950s... so with the risks and vulnerablities he took and created with his artform I have no qualms about calling an actor a hero of mine.
