Review of Modern Times (1936) by Caleb M — 11 May 2011
Chaplin's physical comedy is a joy to watch, though Modern Times also contains some hilarious sound-related gags. As a much a comedy as commentary on class during the Great Depression, Chaplin never lets a lesson or message get in the way of the characters and comedy.
Paulette Goddard is the impossibly cute "gamin" with greasy hair and shapely legs who falls for his little tramp. Cute and hilarious.
