Review of Modern Times (1936) by Izzy G — 04 Mar 2009
10/10.
Chaplin's silent masterpiece is a look at the effect of technology on society, especially with the average worker. As with all Chaplin films, this is also filled with heart and soul.
Chaplin's greatest silent film is probably his best examination of society and how the Industrial Revolution affected it's citizens. Pertinent messages and classical gags from Chaplin add charm add importance to the film.
Modern times is the greatest silent film of all time and one of Chaplin's best works.
