Review of Mobsters (1991) by Dan K — 22 Jan 2007
While Mobsters is a likable film, and mildly entertaining, it just isn't very good. It is prohibition for Generation X, starring 4 hot young stars who never made it off the B-list (Dempsey's finally found some success).
It does feature a couple of highlight, if over the top, performances by two veteran actors in Anthony Quinn and F. Murray Abraham, but even that isn't enough to make this film worth repeat viewings (although I will admit to having seen it 3 times now).
Watch it as pure escapism, but there are probably hundreds better films made about prohibition and the mob.
