Review of Moana (2016) by Sanyrub — 26 Apr 2017
I´m glad both critics and users agree that this new Diney film is better than the weak Frozen, a film that I called basic and generic from the beginning and which only saving grace that made it so famous was probably the song "Let it Go" (that cannot compare to true memorable Disney scores like The Lion King anyway).
Moana exudes beauty and charm. There are several very nice songs. The power of the deep blue ocean is amazing to witness. And I love the fact that there are no references to relationships whatsoever. A better story than I expected and a strong leading female character.
I also love the representaion of that culture and the fact that they show them eating mostly vegetables and healthy food (the world needs to change once and for all sooner or later in that regard. It´s coming.
There´s no other way). It´s a pity that it was released the same year as Zootopia (phenomenal and even better than Moana) and the oscar had to go to Zootopia, because Moana certainly deserves the oscar way more than Frozen (which sadly got it in its respective year).
That´s for sure. Must see for Disney audiences.
