Review of Moana (2016) by B W — 28 Jan 2017
Excellent movie. I saw it with my 8 year old daughter for a father daughter outing. She really liked. The story was quite original and made me interested to learn more about the Polynesian myths and culture.
The characters are very well done. Moana is an excellent protagonist. She is a realistically looking teenage girl, unlike the Little Mermaid, who is smart and brave. The male supporting character is NOT a love interest that she pines over or saves her.
Rather, she uses her own way to save her people. I don't want to give away the ending, but it was quite refreshing to see. My daughter and I both liked the music and the animation. I think my son would have enjoyed this show also, so it is not just for girls only.
Definitely recommend you watch it.
