Mitt is a new documentary about recent GOP presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. It is a personal doc that was filmed in cooperation with the family over the past several years beginning with his failed run as a relative moderate for the party nomination in 2008 when he lost to John McCain.

I enjoyed watching this and I did learn more about Mitt the man but I don't think it is as good or as entertaining as last year's political doc Our Nixon which was also composed of intimate video footage between the man and his closest advisors.

Mitt's advisors in this sense are his family ... all of which come across as multi-dimensional and human (something they were never really able to do on the campaign trail). Saying that ... Mitt still is not an overly exciting individual and he is still rather robotic simply because I think he is truly concerned with what others think of him.

He is all prim and proper and only rarely breaks from that mold ... but that is when Mitt (the doc) shines the most. Mitt chases garbage floating around on their hotel balcony when anybody else could do it .

.. he takes this upon himself because he doesn't believe he is above it. The film does gives us glimpses of the man his family dearly loves but he is still nearly too reserved to fully come across to outsiders.

I think he is a perfectly nice individual who isn't overly passionate about a lot of things. While the film makes him look better, it doesn't really do the same for his wife, Ann, who still comes across rather cold.

If the public had been privy to this before the election, I doubt it would have really changed anything as Mitt's damning "47%" comment -- that is referenced here in Mitt -- never allowed him to recover.

But ... he erred. Mitt is human ... and most important of all is that he has a (large) family that loves him very much.
