Review of Mitchell (1975) by Robert M — 10 Oct 2007
Possibly one of the dumbest movies ever. This 1975 "classic" is known to me (and most others) through its featuring in an epsiode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000." For those who don't know this, MST3k was a show that ran from 1988-1999. It was really an excuse for a bunch of guys to sit around and mock out bad movies, and it was one of the funniest shows of its time. (the MST verion is edited from the original, leaving out a key scene).
Anyway, "Mitchell" is about an inherently unlikeable (seriously, probably the worst action hero ever) redneck LA police detective (played by His Flabbiness, Joe Don Baker).
The movie features scenes of "our hero".
1. sleeping.
2. sitting around, drinking beer.
3. getting ready to take a shower.
4. sleeping with a hooker (Linda Evans) who he arrests right after for marijuana use. She becomes his, uh, love interest.
5. Engaging in a pointless heated argument/battle of wits with a 10-year old kid.
6. Hanging out at the bad guy's house eating.
Add to this gems like the slowest car chase scene ever filmed and you've got yourself a real winner.
(Gets four stars for the MST3k version, which is a great viewing experience).
