Review of Mistress America (2015) by Andrew M — 05 Sep 2015
I think I figured out something while watching this: I don't like films about self-important people talking about how self-important they feel. I had a few laughs at some of the jokes, but that wasn't enough to salvage this film for me.
My main problem, besides the acting which I though was mostly bad "saying dialog" instead of having conversations, was that I never bought for a second that these were real people on screen.
Now, maybe there are some real people out there who actually are like this (as in maybe they were supposed to be fake people), but that didn't make this any easier for me to watch. It thankfully wasn't that long, which made it less aggravating than some other films *cough*Boyhood*cough*, but this was still a tough sit for me.
