I loved Greta Gerwig's acting in Frances Ha, but here in Mistress of America, it was horrible. The word "overacting" comes to mind - every gesture and facial expression was exaggerated so much and so frequently that I felt I was watching an amateur actor.
The dialog was stilted, sitcom-y, and cliched.
