Review of Mister Roberts (1955) by Jeff B — 08 Jan 2009
Entertaining film directed by John Ford (and Mervyn LeRoy) starring Henry Fonda as a navy cargo officer aboard a ship during WWII that pretty much just floats in the ocean doing nothing. Funny and fun, the cast is great.
Jack Lemmon gives a nice Oscar winning performance as the laziest member of the ship, his bottle rocket scene is perfect. But I think James Cagney is the best part of the film playing the mean captain.
The scenes with his palm tree are hilarious. Many great moments, this one's worth checking out.
