Review of Mississippi Grind (2015) by Paula B — 04 Oct 2015
Actors Ben Medelsohn and Ryan Reynold's play off each other in ways reminiscent of Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The excellent acting made me feel the emotion even when my hearing loss made me struggle with the dialogue.
My husband enjoyed the gritty, realistic, character driven portrayal of a man with a gambling addiction. The man who sat behind us in the movie theater said, "Reminds me of my trip to Las Vegas when a guy at the Craps table shot daggers at me.
" Settings range from steamy St. Louis to jazzy New Orleans & features music styles like Dixieland and Blues. Mississippi Grind shows for a limited time at a restricted number of theaters, and if you wish to see it, act quickly.
Thursday is the last St. Louis showing!
