A road movie involving an addicted gambler and ... his good luck charm, his muse, eh? Mendelsohn does a great addict (and a pretty good American accent from this Aussie)(also seen in Slow West) hoping for one redemptive turn at the tables.
Reynolds is, for once, less asshole than in other efforts, Deadpool maybe sucking some of that poison out of him, and so more approachable. Their chemistry makes the trip down to New Orleans enjoyable, although it ends as does other "gonna-make-one-last-big-score" efforts.
Pretty damn good.
