Here is a film that pairs two actors at contrasting points in their careers. Giving it a three-star rating is not to detract from the fact that Mississippi Grind boasts seductive backdrops and a charming soundtrack, more that as a film it simply lacks direction and depth. At no point does the plot nor do the characters challenge the moral implications that come with all great gambling classics.

Mississippi Grind is an easy watch, wielding a subject that really demands more.
