This is a very well made little movie based on an actual event that took place during the civil rights struggle of the 1960's!

The murder of 3 young civil rights workers in Mississippi whiile on a mission to sign up blacks for voting registration is an absolute fact and their subsequent murder forced then Attorney General Robert Kennedy to send in the justice department people to investigate.

Well written script and superb acting from Hackman and Defoe make this movie rise.

Well done Hollywood rendition of the Jim Crow south during the civil rights era.

[A side bar note, Gene Hackman is one of a very elite select group of actors/actresses whom always deliver a fine performance no matter the quality of the material and it wouldn't be out of line to give these actor/actresses a special award in recognition of they're devotion to they're craft and they're unflinching consistency!}.
