Review of Mississippi Burning (1988) by Orlando N — 29 Dec 2009
A very well done, and intriguing racial drama. You definitely feel how ugly the racism portrayed in the film is, which could have killed the film had it been done the wrong way.You also get the sense of just how the townspeople operate after just a few minutes of watching the events unfold.
Hackman, Dafoe, and McDormand are all great with their performances. The only thing that bothers me about the film is the accuracy, but it is not a significant change and the tension it creates quickly drives that annoyance away.
