Review of Mississippi Burning (1988) by Ghostshadow X — 28 Sep 2010
A very well done & powerfully told film, Alan Parker truly directed a classic. I really enjoyed Midnight Express (1978) he did 10 years earlier, he really has alot of talent for bringing stories to life.
He deals with very real, confronting issues and digs deep to find the answer and he takes the viewer on this journey so effectively. Both William Dafoe & Gene Hackman where perfect for this film, they where so different but added so much to the film individually.
The film goes to show how deep routed racism is, and although the film is centered in the deep south this stuff happens every day world wide. It's a scary reality this film, it doesn't hold back.
If you want to see a film that will challenge you then this is must see, a 80's drama not to be missed....powerful stuff....
