Manned mission to Mars uncovers unexpected encounter with alien life. Sluggish first half gives way to a more interesting second half once the rescue mission reaches Mars. Sadly, the alien looks like a cartoon; amazing to consider how much more real the fx looked 25 years before in CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.
