Embarrassingly cheesy, unsubtle and on-the-nose revisit to the style of "2001: A Space Odyssey" goes awry thanks to a lacklustre screenplay and a grand revelation that's so unbelievably ridiculous you'd think you've somehow been transported to the last twenty minutes of Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks".
Cute premise, lame execution and trying to one-up Stanley Kubrick is just asking for trouble.
