Review of Mission to Mars (2000) by Adam G — 26 Oct 2011
Mission to Mars is just more proof of DePalma's decline as a filmmaker over the last twenty years. A reasonably entertaining but slow and predictable sci-fi thriller, Mission to Mars gets somewhat interesting at the end, but it feels more like a cheesy version of 2001 or Solaris than a genuinely thought-provoking piece of sci-fi cinema.
Its promising cast does little to elevate the film above its status as brainless summer movie pablum--still it looks like Citizen Kane compared to mass-market sci-fi garbage like Armageddon.
