Review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) by Mouthofsauron — 07 Aug 2015
Honestly, MI: Rogue Nation was a letdown. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so I was caught off guard when it turned out to be less than I had expected. The main problem with the film is that it sorely lacks any distinctive or memorable action sequence. The only one of any note (it involves a lot of water and very little oxygen) was interesting and unique, but it didn't last very long. As for the characters, I wish Cruise's compatriots had had more screentime. The best aspect of this film is the female lead, who really outshines Cruise in every scene. She has great screen presence.
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed this MI less than its predecessor. It's not a bad film, but I left the theater feeling pretty blase about it.
