Review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) by Nathonas — 01 Aug 2015
Similar to its 2011 predecessor, Rogue Nation is very fun to watch. The action is exhilarating and Tom Cruise is as suave and deadly as ever despite being in his early 50s. In fact, the film even pokes fun at his physical shortcomings several times; for example, by pinning him against a physically taller, larger henchman. The other actors are all great in their roles too, can't really complain.
The one thing that stands out in this film though is the improved level of writing. It's not "Jason Bourne" level, but it is a lot better than the previous Mission Impossible films. I was genuinely pleased as the plot kept going in different directions and revealing things I didn't expect, but still somehow made sense.
The only downside is that the film does have a LOT of plotholes and cliches. Overall though, a very entertaining film, and an improvement over Ghost Protocol.
