Review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) by Sesshomurai — 05 Aug 2015
Boilerplate garbage. Allow me to clarify. Tall, oversized ugly bad guy thugs working for neatly dressed, thin, ex-operative gone rogue villian (by the way, same plot as Bond Skyfall). Check. Bad guys with guns who can't hit a brick wall.
Always miss. Check. Fake bullet sound effects like old western (Peeweeeerrrr!). Check. Mix in the usual crop of pointless and ridiculous impossible situations that make zero sense (except to create a tense moment).
Check. Random vehicle chases. Check. Token sexy double agent girl. Check. Some sort of information micro-device. Check. Various clock-ticking events. Check. Dumb assassins who stand in front of large window in brightly lit room dressed in black point a gun at someone in a public opera house.
Check. Angry boss who dissolves said group because of their ineptitude and shenanigans. Check. Who later is made to trust said organization after being proven wrong. Check. Various tranquilizer darts.
Check. Random gadgets and gizmos, never explained that can penetrate any security checkpoint, door, etc. Check. Laptop and tablets that have control access to any plan or vortex water cooling system. Check.
Main character who dies, but is brought back only to then have multiple vehicle chases. Check. I could go on.
