Review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) by Devo-Nc — 07 Aug 2015
Immersive, entrancing action and entertaining. Nothing really bad to say about it, they have stuck with a similar cast the last few films and their likeable, except Luther is only there for the paycheck.
It's fun but nothing special. I enjoyed the practical effects however I'm not a fan of the director, they've had A-list filmmakers on every MI movie, this one had a friendly collaborator Tom Cruise probably wanted to work with.
However the movie as a whole was forgettable. Nobody was killed off and alike Ghost Protocol the villain was dull. Having a massive conspiracy against the MI-force is interesting, but the overall plot seemed boring.
In the hands of the studio, it's a paycheck movie that was made well, I don't care how well the movie was made I don't care much for it. MI3 is my favourite of the series, but that one begins with Phillip Seymour Hoffman killing his wife and instantly gets you amped for whats next.
Even the plane stunt in the movie's opening scene was pointless. It's very overrated, people like it because it's a well-made movie, but how did it truly impact you? will you actually remember it in a year's time.
There isn't much here to make me go wow. I find a lot of movies nowadays completely lack emotion, there was barely any in here to make me interested. A satisfactory cheap movie with some good effects and a few likeable characters, but nothing more.
