Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Gordon T — 11 Nov 2011
I decided to see the second film in anticipation of the third one because I never felt the urge to do so before. While there wasn't anything really bad about this movie per se, there's not really a lot to talk about either.
Besides the over-the-top John Woo action sequences, it felt very formulaic and "by the books." There wasn't that much suspense because you could see the various twists coming a mile away.
The acting wasn't much to speak of either. I had a strong sense that I was watching actors playing a role instead of believing in the characters, especially the main actors Tom Cruise and Dougray Scott.
Thandie Newton, however, was beautiful. Hopefully next week's installment will be better. And thank god Tom cut his hair because he definitely was not rocking the longer do.
