Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Nick K — 20 Mar 2012
Well, this movie may not deserve to be part of the MI series as there is no suspense or thrilling surprises of the series. But, it is without a doubt the one with the best action sequences in the series yet.
Can anyone else, except John Woo, make action look this clean, simple and yet so good? Reply: This is not mission difficult... This is Mission Impossible. Also, Tom Cruise is classy as always. I really liked the music of the free climbing sequence and of course the MI theme music which enhances the impact of Woo's choreography.
The movie's biggest plus point is one of biggest the reason it failed as a thriller because the script was written or re-written around the already conceived action sequences. Also, John Woo had made a 3 Hr modern epic, but was asked to chop off a considerable duration to reduce the run time hence the final mess.
They should really release a director's cut of the movie on DVD/ Blu-ray.
