Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Paul J — 15 Apr 2012
The sequel might lack the sophistication of the first but it certainly has some over the top stylistic action sequences (to a fault). Still, if you don't take it too seriously, it's a rather fun ride.
Robert Towne shows his love of Hitchcock's Notorious and John Woo gives his trademark signature sequences. You can definitely see where Michael Bay got some of his influences. Ultimately, it's a ridiculous film but for sheer popcorn entertainment, it has its moments.
