Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Derek B — 05 Jul 2012
Thoroughly enjoyed the first outing, while the sequel left me wishing for more of the original. 2's plot is mediocre surrounding the substance of "Chimera," with ridiculous stunts and action sequences all carried out through relatively cheesy cinematography.
Writer Robert Towne takes advantage of-if not abuses-the life masks worn by numerous characters throughout the film to the point that it feels like cheating. John Woo has done his part of making an action film, but so much can spoil the end result.
