Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Lewis E — 07 Jul 2013
Run of the mill popcorn action flick with nothing new going for it. It has no memorable action or infiltration sequences like the first, throws in a corny romance that only steers the story away from better material (although Thandie Newton is not bad eye candy in this), less enticing characters than the original, Ving Rhames who is only put in as the cool black guy that will blurt out the odd (not-so) humorous line and overused slow motion which only serves to emphasis in more detail how stupid and unrealistic some of Cruise's stunts are. A part from being the sequel to the first and the prequel to the alleged better third film, there is no other reason I can give to recommend 'MI:2'.
P.S This is a very weak reason as well since the story doesn't really link at all to the first movie so feel free to skip this entry in the franchise.
