Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Sanchayan S — 27 Jan 2014
"CRUISE AND THE CHIMERA VIRUS".
- The second installment of the 'Mission: Impossible' film franchise. Hollywood actor Tom Cruise retakes on the role of super spy Ethan Hunt in this 2000 action movie directed by John Woo (Face/Off). Although it contains a less complicated story than the first film, this 'Mission: Impossible 2' is all about exaggerated action scenes that failed to blow me away. Other cast members are Thandie Newton (Crash), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible) and Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs).
When IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is climbing mountains on holiday, he gets a message for a new and dangerous mission . After meeting commander Swanback (Hopkins), he must find professional thief Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Newton) in Spain to help him stop her ex-boyfriend and rogue IMF agent Sean Ambrose, who holds a new threatening virus called 'Chimera'. The beautiful Nyah agrees to spy and infiltrates the house of Ambrose in Australia, posing as his girlfriend. Hunt and his two other recruits, computer expert Luther Stickell (Rhames) and pilot Billy Baird, follow every move she makes. At a horse racing event, they see how Ambrose meets John C. McCloy (Gleeson), the big boss of the Biocyte laboratories. Can Ethan Hunt retrieve the virus from the heavily fortified lab building?
