Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Michael F — 12 Sep 2014
The mission continues in Mission Impossible II. Super spy Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is called back to the IMF in this just as good sequel. The characters should be considered relatable, but for the most part, are underdeveloped, due to small issues with the audio, and there not being enough time for the audience to know them before they're thrown into the impossible.
The plot is simple: Ethan must recruit thief Nyah Nadoff-Hall (Thandie Newton) to take down rich-guy Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) who wishes to spread the "Chimera Virus" starting in Australia.
It moves slowly at first, but picks up a little as time goes on, and leads to an ultimate finale for the film. The visuals are improved, with no CGI Bull ruining good fight choreography and cool explosions that don't overtake the show (Michael Bay, you could learn explosions work in healthy doses).
There is one clear needle (This is about a plague trying to be released to make the villains eith the cure rich) but all others are implied, so squeemish, be ready. The overal film is serious, but there are a few laughs with some profanity.
Mission Impossible II does not improve much on the first one, but does pleasently kill a little more of your time than the first one. This review will be over at the end of this sentence.
