Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Leslie A — 05 Aug 2015
An atrociously directed film, "Mission Impossible 2" crosses Ethan Hunt with James Bond with a dash of "The Matrix" in its action sequences with horrific results. Bloated, excessive and cheesy beyond belief, John Woo's ultra-stylized take lacks a human heart, penetrating deep into the slick void of coolness. A painful blemish on both the career of Tom Cruise and on the reliable "Mission Impossible" franchise.
The wounded nobility of Ethan Hunt's character from the first film is here sacrificed on the altar of the oversexed spy, a horrific decision.
