Review of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
More fun and exciting than a big set o' boobies. M:I 4 puts all its focus on the action while weaving the plot line through the expansive and exotic set pieces, and it works brilliantly. Think about all of the fun action scenes in The Incredibles and Ratatouille, then add live actors, some violence, take out any type of morality tale, and you have the latest and by far best entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Watch this bitch on IMAX. The 70mm projection will blow your freaking mind. My fingers were tingly and my back was sweaty for most of the movie. It's exhilarating.
I'm as big a Brad Bird fan as I am a Chris Nolan or Darren Aronofsky fan. He's just one of those directors who cannot make a lousy picture. What separates Bird is his child-like ability to pack so much fun into two hours, which is something I can easily relate to. Kind of like the first time you have sex and just want to poke and prod at all the crevices. Find out what fits where until BAM! you need a towel. Where was I going with this? Oh yeah. The film never drags, and the action never becomes exhausting. It's got all the right beats in all the right places.
As a huge action movie junky, this movie was a wet dream. Pure entertainment is what I crave most. Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol delivered.
