Review of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) by Mirkku M — 13 Jun 2013
My rating: Solid A-. Cinema worthy for fans and non-fans alike. Loud, boisterous action likely not easily replicated on typical home theater systems (or in an apt with neighbors close by) so you'll want to see it at the cinema. Blu Ray worthy as well imho, which means this may warrant buying into the rest of the franchise to have the set. This movie is definitely better than its' priors. After everything, it's still a popcorn flick, no over-thinkers need to bother with this one.
First, let me say I'm not a MI fan. I LIKED the first 3 but I wouldn't buy them on Blu Ray initially. That being said, I really liked MI 4. The action was almost non-stop and pretty much everything made sense. The second you start to analyze and ask "why would/did so and so happen?" it's answered. The fight and action scenes are great and not too out there and the acting is decent. The story is solid and I doubt folks will find (too many) loopholes or plot fillers. It's very Mission Impossible-esque and so, we can't ask for anything more I'd say.
This is however, a total action flick. Don't attend seeking precision acting, the entire spectrum of emotions or the meaning of life. It's a fun popcorn movie and not much else/more. If you can appreciate or like that sort of thing then I definitely recommend it.
