Review of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) by Philip S — 22 Oct 2014
It may not be as stylish as the original, but this 3rd sequel does get a good deal right - including avoiding the over-the-top emoting of the first two sequels. The cast is a decent one, but some of the characterization is off; only Hunt seems like a spy, the rest are insecure amateurs.
Pegg's character is almost Jar-Jar in nature and threatened to ruin the film early on. The ending threw me for a loop (I'm still not sure I understand what was "true", nor the chronology) but I caught enough to appreciate the effort.
It's not likely to make any "Top 100" lists, but if you have a soft spot at all for the franchise, you should catch this one (familiarity with M:I-3 is strongly recommended).
