Review of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) by Lewis E — 23 Aug 2015
'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' does the very much possible and provides a more or less entertaining yet standard action flick. Nothing really to hate per se but finding it hard to differentiate between the MI movies apart from recalling the 2nd as being slightly worse and the 3rd as being slightly better than the rest.
All display stylish stunts, cool high-tech gadgets (that always seem to malfunction) and bearable comic relief. Another recurring theme is the forgettable plot, this one not so surprisingly involving an uncharismatic European villain wanting to blow up the world.
Swear I've seen that in James Bond one or two hundred times. Let's just be happy it wasn't the Russians on this occasion (though they still feature). Watched this in preparation for 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' after successful reviews but at this point it would be impossible not to expect more of the same.
